Lighting Installation

Professional installation of interior and exterior lighting fixtures, recessed lighting, ceiling fans, and landscape lighting. Code-compliant work with proper load calculations and circuit planning.

Lighting Installation Done Right

Whether you're upgrading outdated fixtures, adding recessed lighting to a kitchen remodel, or installing landscape lighting for curb appeal, proper installation matters. Fixtures need secure mounting, correct wire sizing, and switches wired to code. We handle the full scope—from running new circuits when needed to patching and finishing around recessed cans.

We install:

  • Recessed lighting (new construction and retrofit cans)
  • Pendant and chandelier fixtures
  • Under-cabinet and task lighting
  • Ceiling fans with or without light kits
  • Exterior and landscape lighting
  • Track and rail lighting
  • Dimmer and smart-switch controls

Load Calculations and Circuit Planning

Adding multiple fixtures to an existing circuit requires load analysis. We verify your panel has capacity, calculate the draw, and run dedicated circuits when necessary. If you're installing high-wattage chandeliers or a row of recessed cans, we make sure the wiring and breaker are sized correctly.

Recessed Lighting and Fire-Rated Housings

Cutting holes in ceilings means dealing with insulation, joists, and fire ratings. We use IC-rated (insulation contact) housings where required and maintain proper clearances. All penetrations are sealed to code, and we coordinate with your drywall contractor if patching is needed.

Exterior and Landscape Lighting

Outdoor lighting requires weatherproof boxes, GFCI protection, and burial-depth compliance for underground wiring. We install post lights, wall sconces, soffit lighting, and low-voltage landscape systems with transformers sized to the load. All exterior work is rated for wet or damp locations as appropriate.

Permits and Inspections

Most lighting installations don't require a permit unless you're adding new circuits or doing extensive remodeling work. When a permit is needed, we pull it, schedule the inspection, and make sure everything passes the first time.

How it works

01

Site Assessment

We review your lighting plan, verify circuit capacity, and identify any structural or code considerations.

02

Installation

Fixtures are mounted securely, wiring is sized correctly, and all connections are made to code.

03

Testing and Cleanup

We test every fixture and switch, verify proper operation, and leave the site clean.

Common questions

Can you add recessed lighting to an existing ceiling?+

Yes. We use retrofit housings that install from below without attic access in most cases. If new circuits are needed, we run wiring through the attic or basement and patch any access holes.

Do I need a permit for lighting installation?+

Replacing existing fixtures typically does not require a permit. Adding new circuits, installing outdoor wiring, or doing work as part of a remodel usually does. We handle permit applications and inspections when required.

Can you install smart lighting and dimmer switches?+

Yes. We install dimmer switches, smart switches, and lighting control systems. Some dimmers require a neutral wire at the switch box; we verify compatibility and upgrade wiring if needed.
